How We Help the Body
NO RED MEAT
At the Health and Wellness Café we serve only sustainably sourced fish and organic, hormone, and antibiotic free poultry. We embrace this lifestyle because:
Specifically, processed and factory produced products dramatically increase the risk of heart disease.
Red meat may contain certain proteins and hormones that can increase the risk of developing different types of cancers, specifically colon cancer.
Red meat can increase inflammation which is the root cause of many chronic diseases.
Dairy-free and Gluten-free Friendly – which helps prevent the main allergens which causes inflammation
The Health and Wellness Café offers dairy-free and gluten-free options on our menu because of the research that has exhibited positive associations with a low dairy and gluten-free diet. This includes:
Lowered risk of several types of cancers
Lower risk of inflammatory diseases
Research has also indicated that gluten-free diets can benefit people with other conditions.
The Health and Wellness Café understands being vegan or vegetarian is not only good for the planet, but also good for the health of our bodies.
Plant based diets can lower the risk of certain cancers
Vegetarian/ Vegan diets can lead to lower cholesterol, lower risk of diabetes, and lower
risk of heart disease
At the Health and Wellness Café we know not all fats are bad, so we cut out the unhealthy oils and instead provide the necessary healthy fatty acids, which lowers the risk of inflammation.
The Health and Wellness Café uses ayurvedic spices in our food, which have been shown to be good antioxidants, beneficial for anti-inflammation, digestion, allergies, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and fighting cancer.
How the Health and Wellness Café Helps the Planet
A vegetarian/vegan diet could cut greenhouse gas emissions from the food industry by almost 70%.
At the Health and Wellness Café, we highly encourage plant-based diets. We know the impact the animal products in the food industry has on the environment, so we promote plant-based foods.
Sustainably Sourced Protein
Cattle are responsible for the largest percentage of greenhouse gas emissions in farm production and they account for one-third of the global water footprint of farm animal production.
Therefore, at the Health and Wellness Café we only serve sustainably sourced fish and organic, hormone, and antibiotic free poultry. Reducing beef in the diet is just one step towards helping lower these emissions, ultimately leaving our you and our planet healthier.
The Health and Wellness Café uses the USDA recommended EatWell plate for our food to make sure we include the proper proportions of protein, carbs, vegetables, and healthy fats.
The use of pesticides and fertilizers on natural wildlife has been documented to have a heavy
impact on our environment. Choosing organic agriculture provides that synthetic pesticides and
fertilizers aren’t used. 90% of the products the Health and Wellness Café uses are minimally processed and organic to ensure we are doing what we can to keep our planet healthy. Serving organic food helps prevent the Health and Wellness Café from introducing harmful chemicals into our bodies…which our bodies must spend energy to rid of.
